6th and 7th grade students must apply for the TSA and Robotics Competition team in the spring for the following year.    We currently have two VEX IQ robotics teams and one FIRST LEGO League robotics team, in addition to the TSA Competition team.    Students who are on the TSA Competition team do not have to be on the robotics team; however, everyone on the robotics team must be on the TSA Competition team, because the robotics events take place at the TSA conferences.   The TSA Competition team competes in over 20 Technology Student Association events. Some of the TSA events include Coding, Children's Stories, Flight, Dragster, Structural Engineering, CAD, Mechanical Engineering, Microcontroller, and more!   Our events include CORE (Chapter Officer Retreat for Excellence) in September, Tech Day at the Georgia National Fair in October, the Fall Leadership Conference at the Jekyll Island Conference Center in November, and our State Leadership Conference at the Athens Classic Center in March.   Students practice during homeroom and after school once per week. Practice begins in August and continues through March.   Applications for the TSA Competition team will be on the TSA website in the spring. For more information about TSA, go to www.tsaweb.org For questions about the TSA and Robotics competition teams at HCCMS, please email Mr. McCalla at mccalla-c@harris.k12.ga.us
