At the conclusion of the 8th grade awards ceremony, Mrs. Taylor handed the class over to Mrs. Snyder, principal of HCHS, who welcomed the incoming freshman. The HCHS chorus sang the Alma Mata to welcome the class of 2030.

This morning, before the start of school, an incident involving an unruly visitor occurred at Mulberry Creek Elementary and Creekside Intermediate. All appropriate safety protocols were immediately followed, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department quickly resolved the situation.

With the potential for severe thunderstorms, tornado watches, and flood warnings extending into tomorrow morning, our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff and students as they travel to school. Out of an abundance of caution, the Harris County School District will implement the following schedule adjustments for tomorrow, May 7:

Isolated hail up to quarter size
All schools will open on a two hour delayed start. Bus routes, school openings, and start times will be shifted two hours later than the regularly scheduled times. For example, a bus normally scheduled to pick up students at 7:00 AM will instead pick up at 9:00 AM.

Rising 8th and 9th Graders interested in Flag Football.
HCHS Flag Football will hold training/conditioning sessions on Tuesday and Thursday each week from 6-7 pm. These sessions are available to ALL HCCMS rising 8th and 9th graders and ARE NOT limited to only those athletes who played on the flag football team this school year. Sessions will focus on improving footspeed, explosiveness, hand-eye coordination, and related skills. You must have a physical, medical consent, cardiac, and concussion form on file with the school before you are allowed to participate. To better align with Muscogee County School District and support the convenience of our families and staff, Spring Break has been moved to April 5–9, 2027.
The change was approved by the Board of Education after stakeholder feedback showed strong support for aligning the schedules.
